Havanese Puppies |
Welcome to our Havanese puppy pages!
We raise these adorable puppies in our home. We only have one pair and let them produce just one litter per year, so we can enjoy the parents and they can enjoy playing and having fun. The Havanese is the National Dog of Cuba. It is also known as the Havana silk dog. It is a small but sturdy breed that is very intelligent. They have a friendly disposition and can adapt to many different climates and living conditions. Since these dogs are highly intelligent and are quick to learn, they do very well in agility and obedience competitions. The appearance of this breed is unique. The hair is a double coat, with a soft, silky under coat covered by a longer wavy outer coat. They are considered a ‘hair’ dog rather then a ‘fur’ dog. These dogs are non-shedding and does not produce oil. Fur oil is what causes a fur dog to have an odor and also produce dander. Dander is what causes some people to develop an allergic reaction to dogs. Even though they don’t shed, they still need to be groomed and brushed out a few times a week to remove dead hair and prevent matting. Havanese get along great with children and will let you know if a stranger is nearby. The American Kennel Club’s Historical Comparisons and Notable Trends survey states that the Havanese breed was ranked # 64 in 2002, but was ranked # 28 in 2012. This shows just how fast this breed is growing in popularity! Once you have one, you will want no other breed!
